Hello :geek: I've had a new electric meter fitted by e-on & it's caused a problem with my Envir monitor, I'm hoping someone here may be able to help.

My previous e-on meter had 4 cables out the bottom, the clamp was round the right most one and my Envir monitor showed all usage, both daytime use AND storage heaters use.

I've just discovered, that as the new electric meter has 5 wires out the bottom, it is only possible to see either normal usage or storage heater by moving the clamp, not both together.

With the clamp on the 4th from the left live wire, my Envir won't show me the KWHs the storage heaters are using. (as pictured below)

I then tried the clamp on the right most live wire, and this way my Envir shows ONLY the KWH usage from the storage heaters (and as they turn on or off).

I've been trying to search for answers before bothering people, but am just a bit confused about the best way to remedy the problem so I can see all my electric usage.

Do I need a 2nd Envir monitor now? If so, would 2 together not send conflicting signals to one another?

Or I read somewhere that getting an extra clamp may work, & do I see the bottom of my Envir transmitter has 3 holes in. Is it as simple as getting a 2nd clamp, putting 1 around the 4th wire & 1 around the 5th wire, & then plug both the clamps into the 1 transmitter in holes 1 & 2?

I also wondered if I could just put the clamp around both the 4th & 5th wires, but they seem too fat to get it around both.

Thanks in advance if anyone can suggest the best solution :)

No, One is enough, (and no, 2 would not conflict ).

Both these choices will work. If you get another clamp and plug it into the same transmitter, the monitor will display the total of 4 and 5. You will be able to access (from a PC attached to the monitor) the power usage of the separate wires.

The cheaper way is if you can get both wires through one clamp. You will get the total power usage but not be able to separate them (except you will see a step up in the power usage when the storage heaters switch on). It looks like you have a 12mm clamp. There is also a larger clamp available see http://www.amazon.co.uk/b?ie=UTF8&me=A1UZ5FQNG739UE. Perhaps you could arrange a swap with your supplier? or privately with someone else. [I have a spare large clamp, but I am in Australia, postage would be a killer].

Just put on the meter far left cable and it will measure all the load.

Another option would be to try the clamp on the first cable, which looks to be the main feed in.
Ah, looks like that just got said as well.

Thanks you all for your helpful replies! :)

First thing I'll try is putting the clamp on the left wire (which I hadn't tried since instructions all talk of using the wires at the right side).

Clamping the 1st wire/left has solved the issue! Thanks SeekerAfterTruth for taking the time to write that detailed help, & thanks Automan & Andygodber for that quick suggestion. :) If only all problems were that simple to remedy.
Sorry if it seems rude that I wasn't thanking you all very promptly, but it seems my posts are delayed by a few days to be moderated.
