Post subject:  RE: US installation of EnviR in Main Panel

I live in the US and have been researching home power monitoring devices for the past couple months and am very intrigued by the EnviR unit.

I have a question about the installation of the transmitters and the CT clamps. Please see photo's 2, 3t, and 3b which show my main panel. Since I live in the US and get 240v supplied to my house thru 2-120v wires. It is my understanding that I need 2 CT clamps per transmitter per 240v circuit that I want to monitor. At my main panel I have 2 - 240v circuits: 100amp for the house and a 60amp for the air conditioner. The 100amp circuit for the house then goes to a sub-panel where it is broken down into individual 15 to 30 amp circuits for the house. In order to monitor these two main 240v circuits I believe I would need 2 transmitter and 4 CT clamps. Further I believe I can install all of this in the main panel (picture 3b). Am I correct? I believe the CT clamps would install over each of the hot (black) wires coming out of the 100amp and 60 amp breakers in picture 3b. Does this sound right?

Stephen

skfisher,
Since it doesn't look like you can get clamps on the wires going from your meter to the bus that the two breakers are plugged into, you will need to have two transmitters and four clamps.
