The bridge is both the best and worst piece of technology I think I have ever owned.

I had one of the first batch that went back for a reflash for the 'under 10 degree' bug, and in return I got a new bridge.

Its been running for 13 days and guess what... Frozen again.... Its so frustrating. I'm using it to feed data into PVOutput.org. Its such a pain in the ar$e that its so unreliable....

rant over.

I guess there must be other factors / compatibility with routers.

My ones chug along okay and a few days back I set my one up to work with PVOutput again.

OK.. I have a 'FROZEN' update. I've been running my bridge via a Newpond 3G router and a SIM to connect to the internet rather than over my BT broadband. The result is not one freeze in 2 weeks.

I've been watching by BT broadband and have found that the connection is often dropped. Sometimes once in a day, other times after many days. Even though the bridge is still connected to the hub OK and has an IP etc, it seems that the loss of visibility of the internet causes it to freeze?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

You could be right. I have a BT Home Hub 3.0. While I have not had a freeze for a couple of weeks (though have had loss of Channels which required a netsmart restart)

My Home Hub firmware is software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.57.1.3 (Type A) . generally it works well, and I get circa 12Mbs download (speedtest.net)

2 things issues I have had with the Router, which might be related:

1) I have had issues with the home hub not settings its time correctly. if I use ntp then it doesn't seem to set daylight savings correctly, so I set the time manually, but it seems to lose this setting after a restart. I mention this because I know that encryption systems such as ssl can error if there is a difference in time settings on each end ?

2) My HH3 is simple ADSL 2.0 (not Infinity). The first router I had seemed to have a problem with yellow socket 4 ('GigE') which was giving me barely dialup speed let alone GiGe. I got the unit replaced and the new one is fine, but I think there are some issues with that socket on some routers, judging from the BT forum

I have a homehub 2. I did ask BT to change it for a 3 a while ago, but they said no.

Mine is
Current Firmware : Version 8.1.H.U (Type A)
Last Update : 23/04/12 (not that that has really changed anything!)

I'm currently running 2 sets of test. As I said, one is a net connection via another route to BT (current a 'three' 3G sim router), the other is to dump the bridge and go with another solution to link to Pachube, sorry, COSM and pvoutput.org.... More on this later. (I'm still using a CC optismart and a CC128 ENVI)

I am a new CurrentCost user in the US. I just received my EnviR, set it up, created my.currentcost.com account, and activated my bridge. I saw my data and things looked good. I then went over to COSM to set up my account there and register my currentcost bridge. Again, initially things looked fine. Then it Froze.

Can somebody from CurrentCost here on the forums let me know what I need to do to get it working again? Do I need to send it back or is there a way for me to un-freeze it.

2012-06-10 Update: I went into my.currentcost.com account, deleted the bridge, then unplugged the bridge, re-registered the bridge, and then plugged it back in. I did not touch my Pachube account settings in anyway. The bridge has been live for 2 days now both on my.currentcost.com and pachube.

Sincerely,

Stephen Fisher
