Nice idea! You could probably eliminate that second DC adapter by taking a source of power directly from the Envi. There are two positive power connections on the RJ-45 one is regulated and the other non regulated, so effectively a direct connection to the existing Envi power adapter. The regulated output, may not be able to supply enough current to power your circuit as it's quite a small SMT device but the unregulated output would probably be more than enough to power an MCU and an SD card. It would also make it a simple and neat affair to just plug a single RJ-45 in and have no additional wiring. I'm sure the existing power adapter could handle the extra few miliamps you will need without it causing any major problems. |
