Hi, I started using Google Power Meter last year but it does not do what I want and is being withdrawn anyway. I loaded history data periodically and then downloaded the data to Excel but there were gaps and errors. The interim database used by Google Powermeter was in dBase. I had no software to read that. Someone on a forum suggested using an excel plugin but I never got around to it.

1) Is there a way to transfer the data to Excel (or Access) without going via the web? I have just purchased some IAMs and would like to collect the data from them too.
2) When Powermeter is withdrawn can I still use the data cable to download data from the Envi and will I need to reinstall the drivers?
3) Finally, how much history does the envi maintain?

You can use a Current Cost monitor and Data Cable with online services here:
http://currentcost.posterous.com/using- ... ith-online

There are various 3rd party software available here: http://currentcost.com/software-downloads.html

You could use the HomeSmart software which works with the history data only. Email: smartsoftware [at] currentcost .com for the download link.

Drivers will not be affected by Google PowerMeter withdrawal.

Full details of the history here: http://currentcost.posterous.com/envi-a ... ory-output

I'm using the bridge that feeds data to the Current Cost Dashboard (my.currentcost). The dashboard offers the ability to download data for a specified day to my PC, but not for other periods such as days, weeks or months. Or have I missed something?

this is a serious problem. we need access to our data... and not in some useless bizarre language. just in a simple spreadsheet format.

why has noone thought of this? what is going on here, seriously? is this product for real or are we all just going to be left out in the cold with these pathetic third party solutions which also don't give you any ability to export your own data in a way which you can analyze properly?

These features are on the way. I am waiting for the datastore guys to give me the ability to do this easily. I appreciate that it is a feature that many people want to see and I am doing what I can to push it forward.

Having just purchased and installed a CC monitor, the next thing I naturally wanted to do was access and analyse my data. That's where I ran into the issue that so many people also seem to have found: there is no "straightforward" way to extract the historical data for analysis (in, for example, Excel). There are several threads relating to this, I am posting here since this thread seems to be still reasonably active and recent.

I am using the USB cable (not the bridge). I would like to be able to download the data from the monitor to my PC every now and then for analysis.

Yes, there are several third-party applications at , but the ones I have looked at so far seem to be unstable and many require additional software (python, graphing packages, etc.). Most also seem to focus on web-upload, which may be nice, but is more than I need to do. I just want to see my data! The "Unite home devices" site seems to be broken as well.

The C2 Terminal is VERY basic, and even that leaves you with an XML file (if you're lucky) which you can do little with. I haven't managed to get it to display historical data, only the live stream.

The historical data dump (OK and down buttons) also doesn't seem to work as advertised, or at least I am unable to make sense of it so far. It's also not clear how the one-minute-past-the-odd-hour delivery of historical data works.

So, in summary:
1. Is there an (easy) application out there that can pull the historical data from the monitor and convert it to a (standard) format like CSV for use in Excel or similar?
2. Does the historical data dump work, and if so what trick might I be missing?

If any application(s) is/are in development, I'd be happy to help with Beta testing.
