I ordered the EnviR a couple of weeks ago and now I am waiting for delivery. I plan on using it directly connected to my computer, in combination with some software from the Current Cost website. I haven’t decided which software yet.

I have a question if anyone can help.

Hypothetically, when I flick a light switch in my house, the consumption of the bulbs that just turned on is always the same. Let’s say 50 Watts.

So through the software I will be using on the computer, I should be able to define, that if the power consumption of the house goes up by 50 Watts within a second, then you can assume that the specific light switch has been turned on.

Is this possible through the software?

You can of course understand where I’m going with this. I want to know if someone left the lights on and also monitor the consumption when specific light switches around the house are turned on. This way I’ll know if it’s in my best interest to move to LED’s.

Indeed, another energy monitor maker in the UK also hoped to have what they called "Appliance Detection" and it, even taking a reading every second it never really worked.
