Post subject:  Detect relay closure with unused transmitter input.Possible?

Hi All

I have a relay closure that I would like to detect using cc.
The full idea being that when the relay closes I pick up the input change in the envi xml stream and send an email. The software side of this I have covered.

The normally open relay contact is in the same location as the cc transmitter.

I'm hoping to use one of the two unused clamp inputs on the transmitter to detect the contact closure.

Can someone please tell me what input signal the clamp input on the transmitter is expecting ?
Is it a DC or AC input that comes from the clamp ?
What is the voltage range ?

If the input is DC I guess I can use a battery and some resistors.
If AC, I hope some kind of 555 solution will do the trick.

All advice appreciated.

ninebladed.

Perhaps use one of the digital Dev boards - this doesnt use the clamp transmitter, but is an xmitter on its own, sending to one of the Envir channels.
