Hi, Firstly apologies if this topic is not in the right place. I have a Current Cost monitor which I have used to monitor consumption for a year or more. Recently I had Solar PV installed. Is there a way of monitoring the nett consumption/export with this or another monitor. It seems that the monitor cannot differentiate which way the power is flowing as currently I am generating 1.33kW and consuming about 300W in the house but my monitor is showing consumption of 450W.

I see this also. I use a bridge with one transmitter and Classic monitor. My.current.cost shows my load + the inverse of my solar pv generation superimposed (solar generation is imposed positively on top of the load).

I've recently invested in the bridge, it's only benefit now seems to be for monitoring the solar output...or recording load overnight when there's no solar production. Not ideal.

Look at http://www.smartnow.com.au/smartnow-current-cost-solutions/i-have-solar/ to see how to setup for solar PV. Note that you don't place a clamp in the normally recommended location (between Switchboard and meter), but after the switchboard on the house circuits. You may need to put more than one wire through the clamp or you could use up to 3 clamps for different circuits plugged into the same transmitter. This transmitter now measures the energy consumption.

To calculate net energy use: Generation > Consumption ==> Export-to-grid=Generation-Consumption
Generation < Consumption ==> Import-from-grid=Consumption-Generation

The use of an Optismart on your electricity meter will cure your problem.

Graham - I replied to your other question in good faith, but this question is rubbish - I hope you havent done it as a prelude to spam.
