Hi

Does anyone know of a button combination that will clear all the history data from an Envi and return it to factory settings?

See http://www.currentcost.com/product-cc128-specifications.html Item 9 says press UP and DOWN while powering on. I haven't done it, so decide for yourself f it applies to your unit.
Also, I seem to remember from other reading that it does not reset the DSB field, but my memory is getting fallable these days

Thanks Seeker for you prompt and courteous reply, I had googled but could not find anything, I have found MOST people on this forum very friendly and informative.

Firstly, there is no mention of Factory Reset or Clear History in the printed booklet, if you bothered to RTFM before posting a rude and unhelpful reply. I wrongly assumed CC's website was the same as their printed manual.

Secondly, I did google "Current Cost Envi Factory Reset" and other search criteria and nothing helpful appeared, other than a helpful response on this Forum regarding an CC Eco Manager, which has different buttons.

Thirdly, if you think I was wasting the people on this forum's time why did you bother to post and waste your own time and mine, having to reply to your inane comment.

I don't presume to answer for JohnLee but he is one of the more helpful on this board. Perhaps his kids were screaming in the background!

For my part I have received a lot more help (both tolerant and brusque) from this type of forum than I have ever given. It behoves (nice word that, must use it more often) me to do what I can when I can.

Ciao

I concur with Alan IOW. There is no mention of a factory reset in the manual. It doesn't matter how much someone shouts RTFM you won't find what isn't there. Perhaps johnlee should learn to be a little more tolerant before shouting profanities. I have found from trial and error that the reset sequence is:- hold down up and down arrows whilst switching power on. The full screen will show and the three bars will rise and fall, the screen will blank and show what I presume to be the version of software. Switch the power off and on again and the system appears to be reset. Seeker mentions the DSB field. As I haven't a clue what DSB is, I can't comment.
Having had my rant and put in my two pennyworth I would like to say Hello to all. I am a Silver Surfer rapidly approaching seven oh. As you may have gathered I cannot abide bad language. I don't go too much on acronyms either. How much time did either johnlee or Seeker save by not typing the full words.

Thanks for you contribution, FWIW(For What It's Worth). I guess it is confirmation (6 weeks after the event) that the documented procedure works.

DSB (Days Since Birth) is a field of that name in the XML(eXtended Markup Language) File output by the ENVI(the acronym escapes me) monitor. BTW(By the way), if you had cared to google "Current Cost DSB" rater than making snide comment, you would have seen the explanation in the first non-advertisement entry . The implication is that you can't make an old monitor look like new.

RTFM(Read The Manual) is a time-honored IT(Information Technology) term for "look in the documentation". If you have a profane version, it is in your own mind so feel free to keep it to yourself.

You may have gathered that I don't particularly care whether you consider my answer lacking in some way. I answer to the best of my ability to an assumed level of knowledge of this audience. If I am wrong feel free to correct me. If you need more information just ask. No need for rants. The approach of senility does not provide anyone with an excuse for ranting or snide comments.

Having got that peeve off my chest --- Welcome to this forum and I hope you continue to contribute.
