Hi,

My internet connection has heart palpitations once or twice a day but reconnects happily after a few seconds.
My CurrentCost bridge however is frozen until I get up into the attic to unfreeze it (turn power off then on).

As you can imagine I'm inclined to do that less and less and have gaping holes in the consumption profile.

Any answers?

:x

I guess what would do the trick, is a device that auto power cycles every ten minutes or so. That is to say, every ten minutes it turns the power off, then turns the power on immediately. If the device was frozen then it would unfreeze and reconnect. So I don't need to detect a frozen status per se, just force a power cycle. Anyone know anything for that? :)

0watt when did you purchase your bridge. Latest bridges should reboot if posts are unsuccessful.

My bridge went offline at 4AM (PST) and a reset of the bridge did not help. When I switched the bridge to a different router port then it started working which is similar to the problems a couple of weeks ago.

Automan.

This is not a solution to the primary problem but you can get an alert directly from Pachube as soon as the output freezes so that you can take corrective action. Basically you set up a trigger on one of the datastreams on your bridge feed - sending the alert to your Twitter account. Set up the twitter Account to email you as soon as a tweet arrives. If you already use twitter you probably don't want allyour teewts to end up in your mailbox so create a separate twitter account for this purpose.

Here is my bridge feed with two alerts defined, one when it freezes, the other when it goes live again.

Of course with this you still have to monitor your email :? . I am working on setting up push notification on my iPhone to avoid that.

Yes, mine too. Last update at 14:11.

Doing a search on pachube for 'Current Cost Bridge' by 'frozen' shows a total of 309:

And 10 minutes later, ~100 bridges have suddenly become unfrozen, maybe CurrentCost is reading the forum again?
